Every year for how many one could remember, my grandparents would always go south so they could spread their feet in the warmth of sand, hear the callings from seagulls that fly over their heads and feel the crisp of wind over their faces. It was a journey to them whenever they can escape from the cold and as my grandmother always described it as "we are like shells - we would wash up in spirals everywhere we could go because that's where our journeys are to be."

This portrait is to be dedicated for my grandparents for their wedding anniversary after everything they have to survive through including World Wars, only to understand and feel what their freedoms are. It was all about going south to escape from everything they had but lately, they haven't been able to because my grandmother felt like they were "shelled" out this time. This portrait will serve as a reminder of her words for anyone who have heard of this story and take its meaning for granted.

This picture was taken on March 23th, 2008.

An EXCELLENT piece of photography!

Everything that changes is meaningless. Even meaningless is meaningless. If everything is meaningless, what then is meaningful?
The perspective in this photo, with the vertical line stretching to the top where the shells are clustered, really give a feeling of a journey. Nicely done! And nice to see you're still around!
Thank you for saying that! It means a lot because what you have said is exactly the goal of this photo for the viewers to understand and feel. All our lives are a journey.

It's nice to talk with you again as well!
